Prayer Shawl Ministry
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4
The Prayer Shawl Ministry is one way we live out our calling to care for one another through prayer, service, and love. Since January 12, 2011, members and friends of the church have created prayer shawls and other handmade items to share God’s comfort and encouragement with those walking through meaningful moments in life—whether awaiting surgery, grieving the death of a loved one, facing illness, celebrating the birth of a baby, or simply needing to be reminded that they are not alone. Prayer shawls may be knitted, crocheted, quilted, or sewn, and they can be as large as a blanket or as small as a handkerchief. Each item is blessed and given with prayer, compassion, and care. All are welcome to take part in this ministry, whether you are experienced or just beginning. Yarn is available for this purpose.
