The Quilts of Christ Indy UMC

Quilting with a Spot of Tea is a caring and creative ministry at Christ Indianapolis United Methodist Church where fellowship, faith, and service are stitched together to bless children in need. This welcoming group gathers to share conversation, prayer, and a “spot of tea” while creating handmade items that bring comfort and hope to others. The ministry meets on the second Saturday of each month to sort and cut fabric, sew quilts, and prepare additional items, including gifts for Christmas stockings.
Each quilt and stocking is made with intention, prayer, and love. As ministry leader Donna Pfiester beautifully shares:“Even though we will never see them or know who they are, they will hopefully understand that someone made that [quilt] with love, we prayed over it, we talked about the kids that are going to get those and our hearts are in it.”— Donna Pfiester. That spirit of prayerful service reflects the heart of Christ Indy's outreach ministries—extending Christ’s love beyond the church walls in tangible and compassionate ways.
Over the past year, Quilting with a Spot of Tea distributed more than 300 Christmas stockings, quilts, and bibs to children through the following partner organizations: Lebanon’s Children’s Home, Julian Center, Wheeler Mission, Kids-In-Crisis Intervention Team (KIC-IT), Resources of Hope, and Life Center Birth line.
These handmade gifts provide warmth, encouragement, and a reminder that God’s love reaches every child, even those the makers may never meet. All are welcome to participate—no prior sewing experience is required. Opportunities to help include: sewing, cutting fabric, sorting materials, donating supplies, or simply enjoying fellowship while supporting this meaningful ministry.
