- Quilting with a Spot of Tea | Christ Indy UMC
Quilting with a Spot of Tea Quilting with a Spot of Tea is a caring and creative ministry of Christ Indy UMC where fellowship, faith, and service are lovingly stitched together to bless children in need. Each month, this welcoming group gathers for conversation, prayer, and a “spot of tea” while creating handmade quilts and other items that offer comfort, warmth, and hope. The ministry meets on the second Saturday of each month to sort and cut fabric, sew quilts, and prepare additional gifts, including items for Christmas stockings, while also working independently on their own time outside of gatherings. Every quilt and stocking is made with intention, prayer, and love. As ministry leader Donna Pfiester beautifully shares: “Even though we will never see them or know who they are, they will hopefully understand that someone made that [quilt] with love, we prayed over it, we talked about the kids that are going to get those and our hearts are in it.” This spirit of prayerful service reflects the heart of Christ Indy's outreach ministries—extending Christ’s love beyond the church walls in tangible and compassionate ways. Over the past year, Quilting with a Spot of Tea distributed more than 300 quilts, 300 Christmas stockings as well as bibs, burp cloths, and large tote bags to children through the following organizations: Indiana United Methodist Children’s Home , The Julian Center , Wheeler Mission , Kids-In-Crisis Intervention Team (KIC-IT) , Resources of Hope , Isaiah 117 House , Life Centers , Birthline , and Church World Service-Unaccompanied Children . All are welcome to participate—no prior sewing experience is required. Opportunities to help include: sewing, cutting fabric, sorting materials, organizing stocking donations, donating supplies, or simply enjoying fellowship while supporting this meaningful ministry. For more information about Quilting with a Spot of Tea or how you can get involved, please contact Donna Pfiester at dpfiester@mymetronet.net .
